Ben Vivan 51 – Private Course November 2013
Thanks for today Adam, Emma and I really enjoyed it and learned lots. FYI the “Tight tree descent” Strava segment (start of the Red Route) second time down it I was 26 secs faster (and that was still with soggy rear suspension). So here’s to more and faster riding. Thanks again

I started mountain biking the late age of 18, ever since my first ride at Cannock Chase I was hooked! I started to get into downhill mountain biking after a couple of years of general riding. In 2011 I got picked to race under the local team (Racers Guild Squadron) I gained enough point’s to race in my first national downhill race and finished in 5th place at my first ever national event, I finished 6th in the overall of the 2011 British Downhill Series. In 2012 I entered my first Gravity Enduro event (Pearce Cycles Gravity Enduro) and won by nearly 2 minutes since then I have raced at the Elite level in the UK and abroad. Mountain biking has took me to some amazing places and I’ve met some amazing people through my sport. In Winter 2014 Adam worked as a guide for RoostDH in Spain for 3 months soaking up the sun and guiding some of the best mountain bikers in the world around the Spanish mountains, even including world cup winner Matti Lehikoinen.
I started The Bike School in 2010 to provide Cannock Chase with professional skills coaching for all abilities and its been a great success. I’ve coached riders as young as 8 years old to tackle trail feature like the Werewolf drop and riders over 60 years old to brush up on their technique and gain confidence safely.
Enduro and Advanced Skills Coach
I picked up the sport at the age of 14, with XC riding in the local area, but after visiting the local Downhill track, I was soon hooked on the challenge of progressing. My riding continued to develop, and then I picked up the Enduro race discipline, which perfectly merged the different types of riding I was doing. I won the UK Gravity Enduro Series in the Under 18 category in 2013 and am now racing for the Whyte Bikes Enduro in the Senior category, with my eyes firmly set on moving to Elite in the future. I’m passionate about the sport, and look forward to helping people progress and enjoy their riding even more, as others have helped me.

I’ve worked in the outdoors industry for the last 20 years. I’ve worked with both children and adults conducting many guided visits and lessons based around environmental education. I also played an influential part in the conception of the Miners Trail at Sandwell Valley Country Park. I also enjoy building a few cheeky jumps and drops around the area
